I watched a documentary on PBS this weekend about Point Reyes, California. It was kind of funny, I woke up thinking about how much I detest California’s high cost of living but how much I love Point Reyes. I haven’t been back in years, but I still think about that stunning landscape, especially when I hear Joni Mitchell, which is why I was thinking about it in the first place. Around mid-morning I put on PBS as a little break from writing, and weird as it was, there was a documentary about how Point Reyes became a national park, and was spared from land development.
You know, it was just a group of people working towards a common goal. Despite politics, despite money, despite massive greed, the people won and Point Reyes is still that beautiful spot it was, only bigger. This small group of people managed to protect a giant swath of land, and now it is all a park for EVERYONE”S enjoyment.
I truly walked away from this documentary feeling like WE can do anything if we work together. I hope you will take the time to watch it. It’s called, “Rebel with a Cause.”
